The father of Mary Harris Gray, Daniel Harris, and his wife, Elizabeth Faris (or Farris) Harris, are buried in the Nicholas Harris (father of Daniel) Pioneer Family Cemetery which is located in Boone Township, Dubois County, Indiana. There is a beautiful new monument "Erected 2012 by the descendants of Nicholas Harris and the Shiloh Cemetery Association of Ireland, Indiana". It reads, "This mmemorial stone was placed in the memory of the pioneer Harris family of Union County, South Carolina who settled here in 1815." Daniel and Elizabeth Harris are among those listed on the monument.
